I wounder why Mugabe was invited to the current AU summit in the first place? On what capacity is he in Egypt? Isnt that saying something about the AU's stance towards Zimbabwe and its one-man-show Mugabe? On what basis is Mugabe labelled the president of Zimbabwe, because if the elections were not fair and free, then he is not a legitimate presidential candidate, unless our leaders are hiding something.
I do not see the wisdom in inviting Mugabe to the AU summit to deliberate on African Affairs especially after demonstrating clearly to Africa that he cant listen to them. How are these so-called African leaders going to speak about Mugabe in his presence if they failed to speak against him in his absence? Its a puzzle I am struggling to solve really.
We need the likes of President Ian Khama rule Africa, and I fully understand why our President did not see it fit to waste time at this AU summit. Our president sees an URGENT CRISIS in Zimbabwe but it seems not so with the rest of Africa. Africa is slowly and shamfully adopting the South Africa's Mbeki's silent diplomacy towards Mugabe, despite the fact that the rest of South Africa, in particular the DA and most importantly the ANC president Jacob Zuma has and still continues to lambast this cowardly-bordering complicity stance with regards the humanitarian atrocities we see in Zimbabwe.
Mugabe still has a bit of dignity left and he really needs someone who can tell him its ok to leave! But the African brotherhood doesnt seem to know how to phrase such a statement: that is if they know its the right thing to do. I WONDER!
I am reminded of a Proverb in the Bible which says: (Proverbs 27:6)
"Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses". Just a friendly Advice to Mugabe: You better start counting your friends, these African brothers, NO, I dont trust them, especially on the basis of this proverb...
Anyway, down the corridors of time, there exists a detour no-one can miss. Not even a blindman.
